Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Antonella Mularoni, sent a message of sympathy to Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marie Michèle Rey, for the disastrous earthquake having hit the Central-American Country yesterday.
I wish to express, writes Mularoni, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of San Marino sentiments of deep concern for the terrible tragedy affecting your Country. While conveying you a message of sympathy and participation in the sufferings of Haitian people, I can assure you my Countrys willingness to implement, though in the limits of its small size, any form of concrete solidarity. I am also prompted by the conviction that the international community as a whole will join these efforts, with the aim to provide the utmost assistance in your Country, so harshly affected.
Secretary of State Mularoni will define, in the next sitting of the State Congress, the terms for a solidarity action by the San Marino Government in favour of Haiti. She also wished that all citizens, through many and active voluntary associations or on their own, concretely express their sympathy and solidarity for this tragedy, in that spirit of generosity and mutual aid characterising San Marino people since ever.
