Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore

Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, Gorge Yeo, visited the Republic of San Marino and was received by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Antonella Mularoni, at Palazzo Begni. Minister Yeo, accompanied by a qualified delegation of high-level officials, met his San Marino counterpart and the Secretary of State for Industry, Marco Arzilli.
The meeting focused on the bilateral relations with the small Asian State, with which cooperation has been established within the United Nations and other international organizations for a long time.
Secretaries Mularoni and Arzilli underlined that Singapore represents an example of a small state that has been able to play an important role in the world economy through ongoing and effective planning. Therefore, it can be a model for San Marino, which should learn from Singapore’s experience to build its new economy.
Secretary Mularoni wished that an Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation may be reached soon with Singapore, in order to facilitate the economic relations between the two countries.
Minister Yeo, who said to be pleased to visit San Marino for the first time, agreed to sign the Double Taxation Agreement as soon as possible and he offered his support to strengthen the cooperation with the Republic of San Marino in sectors such as tourism, economy and finance, culture and university. The Minister invited his San Marino counterpart to visit Singapore to better understand the organization of this small State which has created, in very few years, a strong and well-diversified economy and provides high-quality services in safety and security, health assistance, education, transport and the banking system.
