The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs has met the European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy

Today, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Antonella Mularoni, has met the European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, in Brussels.

During the meeting, which took place in a friendly and warm atmosphere, the parties took note of the excellent relations between our Country and the European Union. In particular, Commissioner Ferrero-Waldner expressed her gratitude for the efforts undertaken by San Marino in the last few months to improve transparency and compliance with international standards, by signing bilateral agreements. With a view to strengthening the existing linkage, authorities considered the possibility for San Marino to become a member of the European Economic Area. This hypothesis is welcomed by the European Union.

Considering the current international scenario, the European Community also expressed the wish to find cooperation forms against tax fraud in the future, even by signing a frame agreement with the European Union.
