Decree - Law no. 79 of 18 May - News on moving to and from the Republic

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs the public on the latest news regarding moving to and from the Republic of San Marino, introduced by Decree-Law no. 79 of 18 May 2020 thanks to the constant cooperation with the Italian Government. This piece of legislation is aimed at implementing effective and concerted measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic that has taken place in recent months.

Starting from today people can move to and from Italy without limitations. People who wish to move outside the borders of San Marino will no longer need to motivate their journey. However, they will still be required to stay informed and respect the Italian national regulations as well as the specific regulations adopted by Italian regions and provinces which they enter and through which they transit. Likewise, people may enter the Republic of San Marino from Italy with no limitations, without prejudice to the regulations in force, in particular in the field of hygiene and health.

For those returning to San Marino from abroad (excluding Italy), the provisions of Article 10 of Decree-Law no. 78 of 15 May 2020 will remain in force. Those, who wish to return to San Marino from abroad, are required to notify in advance the date of your return to the Department of Foreign Affairs at dipartimentoaffariesteri@pa.sm or, in case of return for urgent reasons, to the Inter-agency Operations Centre, specifying name and surname, ISS code, date of return, time, place, means of transport (plane, car, etc.), email and mobile phone number. Therefore, those who return will be tested serologically and, in case of a positive result, with a molecular swab. While awaiting the outcome of the tests, the returnee is required to put himself in solitary confinement. In the event that the molecular swab gives a positive result, the returnee will will be subjected to home isolation and will have to follow the instructions given by the Social Security Institute.
