Meeting with the Ambassador of Italy, Guido Cerboni

Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari, received, in Palazzo Begni, the Ambassador of Italy Guido Cerboni on the 74th Anniversary of the Italian Republic.
The meeting provided an opportunity to confirm the solid and fruitful bilateral relations and to retrace, together, the most salient stages of the period when both States have been affected by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Minister Beccari wished to express to Ambassador Cerboni the sentiments of fraternal closeness to the friendly Italian Republic, together with sincere gratitude for the continuous attention and support received in this very difficult situation that has brought suffering and pain to both States. In particular, the Minister wished to personally thank Ambassador Cerboni, who in these months of health emergency, has ensured his constant collaboration also regarding the repatriation procedures of many San Marino citizens and residents from abroad.

The celebration of such an important institutional anniversary was held in a very unusual format, because, due to the need for social distancing, it could not take place at the Embassy of Italy. In this regard, great importance was attached to the digital gifts that, on the initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spread the awareness of solid identity roots around the world, promoting an artistic and cultural heritage that can be the vehicle for an effective and concrete revival.

Inspired by Italian national day that, for the friendly Italian people, is a symbol of freedom and democracy, the Government of the Republic of San Marino, through this meeting at Palazzo Begni, wishes to emphasize the deep identity bonds between our two countries. This is in line with the mutual commitment to sharing and mutual support at bilateral and multilateral level. "Both our States have gone through a delicate period. We have been called to face the unpredictable and, for the first time, our citizens have experienced confinement in their respective territories," said Minister Beccari. "In this context we have further witnessed the extraordinary capacity to work together and to recognise our concrete needs to ensure health, safety and sustainability for our populations".
