The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari, welcomed today at Palazzo Begni the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias, who was visiting San Marino to confirm the excellent state of bilateral relations.
On 9 November, Minister Beccari had already met the Minister of Immigration and Asylum of the Hellenic Republic, Notis Mitarachi, with whom he agreed to promote mutual bilateral and multilateral cooperation initiatives.
The visit of the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs consolidates and strengthens the common will to cooperate in numerous fields, also through the negotiation of future mutually beneficial agreements and by concretely implementing the collaborations envisaged in the Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations, jointly signed on 2 December 2021 during the OSCE Ministerial Council.
In an extensive exchange in the presence of their respective Ambassadors, both Ministers discussed the state of relations, with a view to promoting their concrete strengthening, both bilaterally and multilaterally, and agreed on the opportunity to intensify meetings and exchanges between their respective delegations.
The discussion on the respective roles in the European sphere was of central importance, starting from common views on the European Political Community and on the respective participation in EUSAIR. With reference to the Association Agreement that the Republic of San Marino is negotiating with the European Union, Minister Dendias expressed his approval and support for the process initiated by San Marino.
They also shared the desire to strengthen collaboration in the economic, tourism and trade fields.
At the end of the detailed and fruitful bilateral discussion, Minister Beccari, invited by his Greek colleague to visit Greece, directly awarded the Guest the high honour of Knight of the Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of St. Agatha.
Following this, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by Minister Beccari and in the presence of their respective Delegations, was received in audience at the Government Building by Their Excellencies the Captains Regent, H.E. Maria Luisa Berti and H.E. Manuel Ciavatta.
