News The official visit of Minister Beccari to Cuba continues 27 May 2023

Yesterday Minister Beccari was welcomed by the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, who confirmed his full willingness to further strengthen the already excellent relations between the two countries at the political level and in the trade, health, culture and tourism fields. Minister Beccari described the features of San Marino to the President Díaz-Canel, with whom he discussed some of the important topics on the international agenda, emphasising the respective potentials and strengths, but also the challenges both countries are facing.

Later, the Minister met the Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, and they talked about numerous ways of strengthening relations, both at the bilateral and multilateral level, including the 2030 Agenda.

Then, Minister Beccari met with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investments, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, with whom he held a detailed discussion on the respective national trade and investment strategies, which could be implemented through the involvement of the respective Chambers of Commerce.

The First Deputy Minister of Public Health, Tania Margarita Cruz Hernández, also welcomed the Minister. They discussed in detail a possible cooperation in the health sector, considering the valuable experience of the Republic of Cuba in this field. They signed the Memorandum of Understanding concerning health, medicine and medical devices, which will consolidate greater cooperation in this specific field.

Minister Beccari also visited the National Centre for Scientific Investigation, a Cuban State organisation founded in the 60s by Comandante Fidel Castro, in order to promote Cuban scientific talents and make them available to the country. This meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss a series of topics of interest to San Marino in the pharmacological-health field.

Minister Beccari was extremely satisfied with the high-level meetings and the signing of the two memoranda, which represent a further step forward in the relations between the two countries.
