Their Excellencies the Captains Regent H.E. Alessandro Scarano and H.E. Adele Tonnini received today in an Official Audience at Government Building the participants in the 41st edition of the Cultural Stays dedicated to young San Marino citizens living abroad.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari, introduced more than 30 young San Marino citizens from the United States, Argentina, France and Italy. They were welcomed by the highest institutions and encouraged to keep their relationship with their Homeland alive and prolific.
“During their three-week stay, - emphasised Minister Beccari, - the students were able to see with their own eyes the places minutely described by their relatives, leaving room for the emotions that images, places and stories evoke. The Stays include lessons of Italian and dialect, San Marino history and institutions, economics and international relations, in order to provide an extensive and complete view of the multiple facets characterising our country and its role in the Community of States”.
The Captains Regent focused on the significance of this cultural initiative so that it could revive “the memory jealously preserved in their families of the country they left behind, which today is ready to face the challenges of contemporary world, especially to face the economic crisis and defend the values of peaceful coexistence that respects diversity and is enriched by it”.
As part of their summer stay in San Marino, young citizens living abroad were offered the opportunity to alternate morning lessons in classroom with various afternoon activities such as excursions, visits to museums, companies, laboratories and sports initiatives. This is an innovative method to enable them to learn by living first hand, taking an active role and interacting with the territory and its citizens.
