Working Holiday Programmes abroad

Work and Holiday in Australia

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of San Marino and the Government of Australia regarding the Agreement on visas/stay permits for participants in working holiday schemes was signed in New York on 23 September 2016 and entered into force on 1 January 2017.  Thanks to the signing of this Agreement, San Marino citizens aged between 18 and 30 can now apply for a Work and Holiday Visa (462) to travel to Australia.

This visa enables its holders to stay in Australia for a maximum of 12 months, during which they can work and/or study. This visa also allows holders to enter and leave Australia whenever they want throughout the duration of its validity.

For additional information, please visit the website of the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection at this link.

This opportunity is offered each year to a maximum of 100 San Marino citizens who meet the requirements envisaged in the Memorandum of Understanding. Applications must be submitted directly to the competent Australian authorities and must be accompanied by a "letter of introduction" issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs of San Marino.

The form to apply for the letter of introduction - downloadable hereunder - must be duly filled in by the applicant and accompanied by a copy of the passport, a degree certificate or enrolment in a bachelor's degree course, and a certificate attesting to the good knowledge of English as specified on the visa-related web page 462. The form and documents must then be sent by email to the Department of Foreign Affairs at info@esteri.sm .

Once all documents have been received and the requirements have been verified, the Department of Foreign Affairs will issue the applicant with the letter of introduction, which must be attached to the visa application to be submitted to the Australian Authorities.

For additional information, please contact the Directorate of Political and Diplomatic Affairs at the following number: 0549 882144.
