News The Minister of Foreign Affairs attends the high-level meeting on the occasion of the inauguration of the Games of the small States of Europe in Andorra 26 May 2025

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Luca Beccari is in Andorra to participate in the inauguration of the 20th edition of the Games of the small States of Europe, which just 40 years ago, in the first edition, were hosted by the Republic of San Marino.

The San Marino delegation, at the highest institutional level, led by the Captains Regent, H.E. Denise Bronzetti and H.E. Italo Righi, is composed of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Sport, Rossano Fabbri, accompanied by the San Marino Ambassador to the Principality of Andorra Luca Brandi.

Minister Beccari participated in the high-level meeting that took place today, organised by the Andorran authorities and dedicated to the resilience of Europe’s small-sized States in the global context.

This meeting was chaired by the Andorran Prime Minister, Xavier Espot Zamora, the Foreign Minister, Imma Tor Faus, encouraged a wide-ranging dialogue aimed at developing strategies for cooperation between small-sized States in the face of common challenges.

In particular, the key issues of the Global Agenda, which namely the need for peace and for strengthening international cooperation in the development of concrete proposals for dispute resolution in accordance with the international law and fully respecting human rights.

Minister Beccari reaffirmed the important role of each member of the international community in sharing the values that unite those States such as the primacy of law, the constant commitment to peace processes, the respect for international law, human rights, the free trade and the inclusive and effective multilateral governance.

It was an opportunity to meet with several Heads of State and Government of the 9 participating countries, with whom an operational roadmap was established, to consolidate a format that makes small European States increasingly active and protagonist. Minister Beccari met in particular with H.S.H the Prince of Monaco and with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Montenegro.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a declaration reaffirming the commitment of the participating States to full cooperation on the topics under discussion.

Before taking part in the opening ceremony of the Games, Minister Beccari attended a welcome meeting with Andorran and participating States' institutional heads.
