News San Marino among the signatories of the joint declaration "New York Call " 30 July 2025

As part of the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, Minister Beccari endorsed the joint declaration proposed by France and supported by thirteen Foreign Ministers of the participating countries. The declaration, called the New York Call, urges all countries to start the process of recognition of the State of Palestine.

The declaration, also signed by San Marino, encourages those who have not yet done so to establish diplomatic relations with the State of Palestine and to engage in dialogue to foster its regional integration.

The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, who launched the declaration, expressed his appreciation for San Marino's efforts, one of the first country to have firmly backed the New York Call. The declaration takes inspiration from the founding principles of the United Nations, always defended by San Marino, such as the right to self-determination of the peoples, the same one that made possible the birth of the State of Israel and which must also be recognized for the Palestinian people. Two peoples, two states, living side by side in peace, security and mutual respect.

Alongside the Conference, Minister Beccari held talks with numerous counterparts and illustrated the San Marino position, confirming his willingness to implement the commitments undertaken, in line with the Agenda approved by the Great and General Council on 15 May.

During the bilateral meetings, the Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Mustafa, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aghabekian Varsen, expressed their deep gratitude to the Republic of San Marino for signing the New York Call and for starting the process of recognition of the State of Palestine.

‘It was an important opportunity for the international community,' said Minister Beccari, 'to open a strong and determined discussion within the United Nations and determine the steps to be taken to address the legitimate needs of the Palestinian people, which can no longer be postponed. I am proud to be one of the signatories to a joint declaration that recognizes the urgency of ending an intolerable human tragedy and to have given San Marino the opportunity to stand out thanks to the agenda on the State of Palestine unanimously approved by the Council, which did not go unnoticed at the conference.’
