News Visit to Argentina of the Captains Regent and of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Industry 25 February 2024

Their Excellencies the Captains Regent, H.E. Filippo Tamagnini and H.E. Gaetano Troina, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari, and the Minister of Industry, Fabio Righi, took part in the annual meeting of the seven Communities of San Marino citizens in Argentina.

 

The Ambassador accredited to Argentina, Giovanni Maria d’Avossa, welcomed the San Marino delegation, accompanied by diplomatic officials from the Foreign Affairs Department, in Buenos Aires.

 

Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, the Captains Regent laid wreath at the Monument to General José de San Martin, in the presence of Under Secretary of Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, Marcia Levaggi.

 

This year the XXXII meeting of San Marino Communities in Argentina and the XXVI meeting of Young San Marino citizens in Argentina, organised by the San Marino Association of Cuyo took place in Mendoza.

 

At the opening of the works of the XXXII meeting, introduced by the President of the San Marino Association of Cuyo, Natalia Benvenutti, in the presence of the Honorary Consul of Mendoza, Juan Carlos Benvenutti, and of the Presidents and Consular authorities of the other San Marino Communities in Argentina, Their Excellencies the Captains Regent delivered a speech that illustrated the most recent steps taken by San Marino at both domestic and international level. The Captains Regent called on young people in particular to nurture their love for San Marino, make their competencies available to the State and get their voices heard, and emphasised the bond existing among those who live far away from the Republic.

 

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Industry also attended the meeting

 

Minister Beccari illustrated the most recent period, marked by the conclusion of negotiations with the European Union on the Association Agreement and mentioned the opportunities for San Marino as well as the future steps that will lead to its signature.

 

He also talked about the state of bilateral relations and the speeding up of bilateral cooperation through the adoption of agreements already concluded and to be concluded shortly.

 

The communities in Argentina made requests that were analysed and modalities for their resolutions were found.

 

Special attention was paid in this meeting of the Communities to young people and to the activities and projects that can foster greater interaction with San Marino's economic and social fabric. Young people participating in the meeting gave a strong contribution by making concrete proposals and illustrating projects deserving an in-depth discussion.

 

Minister Righi spoke on the economic development and on the strategies undertaken by San Marino during the legislature, focusing in particular on the digital transition and on present and future growth opportunities. The meeting was also an opportunity to illustrate San Marino's current economic situation and its growth, despite the difficulties, in recent years

 

At the end of the meeting the many participants took part in a convivial dinner, inaugurated by institutional speeches.
