The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance and Budget congratulate the Director of the Financial Intelligence Agency, Nicola Muccioli, on his election as Chairperson of the Council of Europe's Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (Moneyval) for the two-year period 2024-2025.

The elections for the position of Chairperson, for which also the Republic of San Marino was candidate, took place this morning during the 66th plenary meeting of Moneyval, being held in Strasbourg from 11 to 15 December 2023.

San Marino candidature of Nicola Muccioli was adopted by a very large majority, with 23 votes in favour out of a total of 32 votes, and his mandate will start on 1 January 2024.

The institutions of our country are very proud that his professional skills, widely appreciated and recognised in the Republic, have been given proper recognition also internationally.
